Cotton harvest in the Delta regions of Mississippi and Arkansas is behind the normal pace since the crop was planted late due to spring rains. However, farmers in the region said the crop is yielding well and profit potential is excellent.

A group of U.S. senators introduced legislation this week that would give USDA a permanent seat on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. The bill is supported by major farm groups.
December corn is down 1/2 cent, November soybeans are up 3 1/4 cents and December KC wheat is down 3 1/2 cents.
Live cattle futures held gains and closed higher. The strength of cash had been factored in on Wednesday, leaving little need catch up. Feeder cattle were not as fortunate being unable to turn the trend higher. Hogs just could not uncover any buying interest.
